Messing around on the river

Img00017

Out by the Thames last night - beautiful sight as 20 canoeists (is that spelt right right??) came silently down the river. My brother the photographer in pic asked them where they came come from, Shadwell they replied.  Looking on Google this morning found their site, the Tower Hamlets Canoe Club who explore the Thames together every Tuesday evening.  Think that I might have to sign up - what a fantastic way to see the city from a different vantage point.

That is a bloody brilliant idea.

Our son was born in St Thomas' Hospital and I can remember spending the dawn hours watching the canoeists going by. I've also canoed through Chicago's skyscrapers.

I may sign up.

I love this too; it goes alongside what I was saying about slow travel... Ever since reading 'A fortune teller told me' I've been wanting to find somewhere to get to by boat; taking the surroundings in, lapping it all up. Yum. Should have known the possibility was right on my doorstep though huh...

Hmmmm, maybe this is a could be a new Blogosphere/Plannersphere night out?
Might look into setting something up once the sun comes out again!
