On the bright side, my roommate's brother has bought lots of property in Detroit on the very cheap and she said it's coming back. I believe there's a budding art scene and music scene & if we were to talk about cities poised for a comeback, that would be Detroit. That being said, I've met with countless agencies in my job search and every one is scrambling adapt and become nimble. The "old guard" is retiring or innovating and I believe we will adapt - perhaps just not to "advertising" as we know it.

You're totally right. There's really interesting stuff happening in Detroit around the edges, well-led by Mayor Dave Bing I believe. Lots of smart innovation units, urban farming initiatives and atrists. So agreed, its Detroit but maybe not as we know it.
